Unveiling Opulence: Our Emirates First Class Experience to Bogotá
Are you ready to embark on a journey of unparalleled luxury? In this blog post – a companion to our YouTube video “FLY with Emirates to COLOMBIA with Insane Points & Miles Deals!”
– we’re taking you along on our unforgettable Emirates First Class experience from Miami to Bogotá. If you haven’t already, be sure to search for it on our YouTube channel for a visual walkthrough of this incredible flight!
This isn’t just any first-class flight; it’s one of the most luxurious ways to travel to South America, and we’re excited to share every detail with you. From the moment we stepped into the Turkish Airlines Lounge at Miami International Airport to the final descent into Bogotá, we were immersed in a world of opulence and personalized service.
A Taste of Luxury at the Turkish Airlines Lounge
Before our flight, we had the pleasure of relaxing in the Turkish Airlines Lounge. It’s one of the best lounges at Miami International Airport, offering a haven of peace amidst the bustling terminal. With a Priority Pass membership or a business/first-class ticket on a Turkish Airlines partner (like Emirates!), you can access this oasis.
Inside the lounge, you’ll find:
- A wide variety of snacks and fresh fruits
- An assortment of juices and excellent coffee
- A selection of cocktails, wine, and spirits
It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some refreshments before your flight. However, be aware that Miami International Airport is quite large, and our gate, J17, was a considerable distance from the lounge. Therefore, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to reach your gate!
Boarding the Emirates Boeing 777: A World of Its Own
Boarding an Emirates First Class flight is an experience in itself. It’s consistently ranked as one of the best first-class products in the world. The sense of anticipation and excitement is palpable. First-class passengers are personally escorted to their seats by a dedicated flight attendant who warmly welcomes you onboard.
In our case, we were the only two passengers in first class! As a result, the flight attendant graciously offered us the choice of any suite in the cabin. We were also treated to a glass of champagne while still on the ground, with the promise of the legendary Dom Pérignon once we were airborne.
A First Class Suite: Where Luxury Knows No Bounds
The Emirates First Class cabin is simply breathtaking. From the moment you step inside, you’re enveloped in an aura of exclusivity and refinement. The suites are spacious and private, featuring:
- Fully enclosed doors for ultimate privacy
- Plush seats that recline into a comfortable bed
- An abundance of storage space for personal belongings
- A large, high-definition entertainment screen
- A personal mini-bar stocked with premium beverages
Moreover, every detail is meticulously designed to enhance your comfort and enjoyment.
Now, how does this compare to our experience in the Singapore Airlines 777 First Class suite on our trip from New York to Frankfurt? While both offer exceptional luxury, there are some key differences. The Singapore Airlines suite felt also very spacious, with a wide seat and more open layout. It truly felt like a small, private room.
However, the Emirates suite provided a greater sense of privacy due to the higher walls and fully closing doors. In terms of design aesthetics, Singapore Airlines leans towards a more modern and minimalist approach, while Emirates embraces a classic and opulent style. Both are incredible options, and the “best” choice ultimately comes down to personal preference.
A Gastronomic Journey at 40,000 Feet
As soon as we reached cruising altitude, the flight attendant presented us with a bottle of Dom Pérignon Rosé 2008. She also informed us that the classic Dom Pérignon 2013 was also available. Talk about options!
The menu was extensive and featured a variety of gourmet dishes. Although I’m not usually a soup person, I decided to step outside my comfort zone and try the creamy mushroom soup. To my surprise, it was absolutely delicious!
Throughout the flight, the attentive flight attendants ensured our glasses were never empty. They offered a selection of fine wines to accompany each course. I particularly enjoyed the French Bordeaux that I paired with my perfectly cooked Wagyu steak.
And let’s not forget the dessert! The decadent chocolate cake was the perfect ending to a truly memorable meal.
Beyond the Seat: Exploring the Emirates Boeing 777 First Class Amenities
One of the highlights of flying Emirates First Class is the onboard shower spa. Yes, you read that right – a shower spa at 40,000 feet! It’s a truly unique experience that allows you to arrive at your destination feeling refreshed and rejuvenated—unfortunately that’s not available on today’s flight, only available on the First Class of the Airbus A380.
The Emirates Boeing 777 also features:
- A spacious onboard lounge where you can socialize with other passengers
- A well-appointed bar area with a wide selection of beverages
- Impeccably clean restrooms with luxury amenities, including Voya skincare products and designer fragrances.
A Sweet Surprise Before Landing
Shortly before landing, the flight purser and our flight attendant presented us with a selection of Colombian pastries. Since we had mentioned our familiarity with Colombian cuisine, they were eager to get our feedback on these new additions to the menu. It was a thoughtful gesture that further enhanced our experience.
The Cost of Luxury: Cash vs. Points
Now, let’s talk about the cost of this extraordinary experience. A one-way Emirates First Class ticket from Miami to Bogotá can cost upwards of $3,400. While this is certainly a significant investment, there’s a much more affordable way to experience this level of luxury: points and miles!
We redeemed just 60,000 Emirates Skywards miles and paid less than $150 in taxes and fees for this flight. That’s an incredible value, especially when you consider the cash price. We transferred American Express Membership Rewards points to Emirates Skywards to book this amazing deal.
Here are some other options for booking Emirates First Class with points:
- Air Canada Aeroplan: You can also book this route through Air Canada Aeroplan for 124,000 points.
- Credit Card Rewards: Many premium travel credit cards allow you to transfer points to airline partners like Emirates. (See the video description for more details on the credit cards we recommend.)
While finding award availability in first class can be challenging, it’s definitely worth the effort. With a little planning and flexibility, you can use your points to experience the pinnacle of luxury travel.
Touching Down in Bogotá
As we descended into Bogotá, we were greeted by stunning views of the Colombian mountains. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable journey. Even though we were sad to leave the luxurious confines of the Emirates B777, we were excited to explore the vibrant city of Bogotá.
If you’re looking for a truly luxurious travel experience, we highly recommend flying Emirates First Class. And with the power of points and miles, it’s more attainable than you might think!
